HI! I’m Carrie Wigginton and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Supervisor. I received my Bachelor’s in Social Work at the University of Kentucky in 1998 and my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern Indiana in 2004. I got my start in the social work field when I graduated with my BSW working as a court advocate for those who had experienced partner violence. I have been a Certified Domestic Violence Counselor and worked for an agency called OASIS. They provided emergency shelter services and residential treatment services. My job as an advocate was to explain the legal process to those who were victims of partner violence. I helped them in filing Emergency Protective Orders and supported them if their partner had been charged criminally, to navigate the process. I also helped them with filing for Victims Compensation. I was in this position for 2 years. In 2001, I joined the Department for Community Based Services working as a Social Services Clinician. I was an ongoing worker in child protection. I provided services and resources once a case had been opened after investigation.
In 2003, I joined Lighthouse Counseling Services as a case manager providing wrap around services in the home. I was a case manager while I completed graduate school. Once I completed, I transitioned to providing in home therapy services to kids who were at risk for out of home placement or already were already in an out of home placement due to psychiatric hospitalization, juvenile detention or foster care. I worked with the kids and the families to ensure that they could either return home or stay in the home. I then worked as a Clinical Director for Family Options from 2008-2016, until I moved here to Texas. I provided clinical supervision from 2011 to 2016, in Kentucky. I started working in a group practice at Counseling and Consulting Associates of North Texas, once I received my Texas licensure. I was a part of that practice until 2024. I am licensed to provide supervision to clinicians seeking independent licensure.
I feel most comfortable treating adolescents, young adults and adults. I am competent in treating an array of concerns including: anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD and other trauma, life transitions, grief and loss, parenting concerns, ADHD, difficulty with adjustment, divorce care and coparenting, conflict resolution, anger management and other concerns. I am trained in EMDR.
I feel that the therapeutic relationship is the most important aspect of therapy. Building rapport and trust is the foundation for success. My hope is that we can form an alliance in order to meet your therapy goals. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals!
